So What is Matcha?
Matcha translated from Japanese means rubbed or ground tea. It is a type of green tea but unlike like most teas, including green tea, Matcha green tea uses the whole tea leaf for consumption. Traditional tea drinking uses the dried tea leaf and steeps in hot or boiling water and then the leaves are removed. This is where Matcha is different. It has been ground into a fine powder, so you consume the whole leaf. Matcha leaves are picked when they are new and soft and gorgeous. They are then ground into a powder and then dissolved (or whisked) with hot water. This gives Matcha an amazing amount of health benefits in quantities that you can't get from other teas; antioxidants, weight loss, helping to prevent heart disease, long lasting energy without a crash like coffee, focus and alertness.
